FRIEND ROOM

How to run a friend room

A short guide to playing with your viewers.

The controls will feel familiar if you have played online mahjong before, so this page leads with what is different.

HEADS UPbefore you start
  • You do not need a full table. Empty seats are filled by CPU players, so a single viewer is enough for a four-player game
  • You cannot create a room outside playtest hours — Saturdays 21:00-24:00 Japan time. A greyed-out button means you are outside the window
  • Viewers who have not joined the Steam playtest cannot get in.
STEPS See the step-by-step (4 steps)
  1. 01 Create the room

From the menu, pick "Friend Match" and then "Create Room". Choose four- or three-player, east-only or full game, red fives, skills on or off, then hit Create.

  2. 02 Put the codes on stream

The waiting screen shows an entry code (for players) and a spectator code (for viewers who just want to watch). Both are 6 characters.

Click either one to copy it. "Hide" masks them, which is handy when you do not want the codes left in a clip or a VOD.

The codes never use lookalike characters such as I, O, 0 or 1, so reading them out loud works fine.

  3. 03 Get your viewers in

    • To play — menu, "Friend Match", "Join Room", then the entry code
    • To watch — menu, "Spectate", then the spectator code

There is no cap on the number of spectators.

  4. 04 Start the game

Even if only one viewer turns up, you still get a four-player table. Only the person who created the room can start it, so press START when you are ready.
